Joseph K. McCombs, DDS, MS

Dr. McCombs was born in Burley, Idaho. After high school, he completed a 2 year church mission to the Los Angeles, California area. He finished his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University and received his dental degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He then completed a 3-year periodontics residency program at the Air Force Postgraduate Dental School and University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Following his residency, he taught at the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. It was here that he honed his skills as a member of a multidisciplinary team and elevated his ability to perform complex bone grafting, implant placement and esthetic soft tissue procedures. He was selected to return to San Antonio where he directed the Air Force Periodontics Residency. Additionally, he oversaw the residency research program and was the director of postgraduate education. He has won many professional awards for his work as a clinician and educator.

Dr. McCombs understands the importance of achieving long term successful outcomes the first time. As a Board Certified Periodontist and experienced clinician he is adept in all aspects of periodontal therapy including bone regeneration, simple/complex implant therapy, treatment of periodontal diseases, treatment of implant failures/complications, gum grafting, surgically facilitated orthodontic therapy, extractions, and exposure of impacted teeth to facilitate orthodontic therapy.  

Dr. McCombs is a member of the American Dental Association, The American Academy of Periodontology, the Idaho State Dental Association and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Periodontology. 

He is married to Anya and they are the parents of 7 children. They’re excited to be part of the incredible Post Falls/Coeur d’Alene community. During their free time, you’ll find them exploring new hiking trails, camping, swimming or visiting family in Idaho and Utah.
